FragBlast 2009 :: Granada 2009

Conference topics

Topics covered at Fragblast 9 will be:
  • Rock characterization: Drill monitoring, face discontinuity analysis.
  • Rock damage and wall control.
  • Explosives: Properties, detonics, delivery systems.
  • Initiation systems: Advances, new paradigms in precise initiation technology.
  • Modelling: Rock/explosive interaction – from continuum mechanics to fracture mechanics and to discrete media.
  • Blasting case studies: Mining, quarrying, tunnelling, construction, special blasting.
  • Advances in vibration monitoring and modelling.
  • Environmental aspects of explosives and blasting.
  • Standardization, training, health, safety, security and legal issues.
  • Economics of rock blasting and downstream effects.
A workshop on Vibrations from Blasting will take place on the weekend prior to the Symposium. It will cover the latest advances in vibration measurements, modelling and control. The material presented at the workshop will be cast in a separate proceedings book.
